THE LOWDOWN:

Baltimore Maryland is not southern or northern.  It is Mid-Atlantic.  When you are searching for southern comfort in Baltimore harbor Miss Shirley’s is tops for simple food cooked right.

I’m not a picky eater.  Anybody that knows me will tell you that.  But if there is one thing I insist on 90% of the time is breakfast before anything else.  I don’t care if it is 10pm and I haven’t eaten a thing.  I still want breakfast first.

I am always on the lookout for restaurants serving first meal 24/7.  Straight of 95 North I found the answer to my breakfast beliefs.  I’m taking out the tried and try Miss Shirley’s in Baltimore, Maryland.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard Baltimore on the lists of any of my favorite foodies as a “must see” food city.  But I have come to learn there are a handful of food gems that compliment a day by the harbor nicely.

CHEF’S VISION:

Miss Shirley  McDowell’s food career span more than 30 years.  She taught a generation of food professionals of inspired recipes.

Shirley’s Affair with Oscar

Two perfectly seasoned beef filets with Asparagus, Sweet Maryland lump crab and a Hollandaise that is definitely scratch made.  This is their claim to fame dish that was featured on in the Food Network magazine.

 

 

Shrimp N’ Grit Cake Po’ Boy

The shrimp aren’t overcooked, the grit cakes are moist and the applewood bacon is…well bacon!

BEST DAY TO GO:

Anyday.  Sunday brunch is jam packed.
